I’m reading.

The Last Adventure of Dr. Yngve Hogalum (The Magnetron Chronicles, #1)The Last Adventure of Dr. Yngve Hogalum by D.L. Mackenzie
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This was a fun read, slightly hindered by its strange and often unnecessary use of big, silly, technical-sounding words. I realize that it’s presumably written by the pseudo-genius Magnetron but, wow, sometimes it was just hard to read. I got this for free and to be honest, while I enjoyed it, I probably won’t seek out the others.

An update!

Hi there!

I realize it has been awhile since I’ve last updated and I apologize. There are a lot of things going on right now. The Unlikely Hero is out and available at the following link:
http://www.dreamspinnerpress.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=3743
I’ve just finished edits for its sequel, The Last Blade. I’m finishing up a super secret project now and then I’ll be finishing the cover for Blade. Then it’s on to a sequel to The Seventh of London and the third installment of The Verses of Vrelenden.

I will be appearing next weekend for Free Comic Book Day at America’s Most Wanted Collectibles in Williamsport PA. If you’re near, stop in. It’s going to be great. My good friend’s band, The Keystone Ska Exchange will be playing and there will be a number of other creators on hand as well. June 1st I’ll be in NY for BEA. More on that as the date gets closer. Blog appearances are forthcoming but unscheduled at the moment.

I hope you check out The Unlikely Hero and enjoy it. Here’s a blurb:

Verses of Vrelenden: Book One

Despite the suspicions Mother Dragon shared with Celestrian before her death, he may be the last surviving unicorn of Vrelenden—though most may simply think him some crazy person with a horn attached to his forehead. Nevertheless, Trian has nothing to hold on to but hope, and he’s about to hang that hope on an unlikely hero named Renwald Mallorian. Ren may have been born an accountant’s son, but he’s longed to be a professional hero for as long as he can remember, and he’s read every book on the subject he could get his hands on. When Trian arrives and hires him to find the last remaining unicorns, Ren jumps at the offer and their quest begins.

But the evil Father Denkham is intent on obtaining the last unicorn and sets a deadly assassin on their trail. If that isn’t bad enough, they’ll face a Vampire, Dragon, bandits, and zombies. Their only hope now is for Ren to prove he’s the hero he always dreamed of becoming—but no book in the world could have prepared him for what’s in store.

Stay awesome, don’t blink and never, ever forget.
-B.

The new cover revealed! Meet Celestrian and Mother Dragon from my newest YA novel, The Unlikely Hero. This little gem will be releasing April 15th from Harmony Ink Press with a cover by me:) Also a few more appearances have been added: the Public Library for Union County on April 22nd. I’ll also be at America’s Most Wanted Collectibles in Williamsport for Free Comic Book Day on May 4th. More news on those as they grow closer. Below is the blurb for The Unlikely Hero. It’s the first book of a series that promises to be a lot of fun. Think the bastard son of J.R.R. Tolkien and Monty Python. Enjoy!

The Novel Approach was kind enough to follow up their awesome review with an equally awesome interview. It’s like a mini story with me, Jack Midnight, the Duke of Sutherland and Seven from my novel, The Seventh of London. Pop over and give it a read:
